Stonehenge is believed to be the world’s most famous prehistoric monument. Located in southern England, it is comprised of roughly 100 upright stones placed in a circular layout. Built in several stages spanning at least 1,500 years, there is evidence that construction on and around the monument perhaps extends to 6,500 years. While there is no definite evidence as to the intended purpose of Stonehenge, some theories point to the structure being an astronomical calculator, used to predict celestial events.
